Biography
Lute Olson is the head men's basketball coach at the University of Arizona, a position he assumed in 1983. In his more than two decades at the helm at Arizona, Olson has led the Wildcats to unprecedented success. In the process, he has helped establish Arizona as one of the nation’s premier programs by leading the Wildcats to 22 consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, four Final Four appearances, the 1997 national championship, and 11 Pacific-10 Conference titles. A graduate of Augsburg College (MN), where he was a three-sport athlete, he began his coaching career at the high school level (11 seasons). He then guided Long Beach City College to three league titles and a state juco crown in three seasons.
